Tutored wine tasting No 1 - Wed. 23 September 2026
We are introducing regular wine tasting events from September 2026. These are informally tutored tastings of at least 6 regional good quality wines, that you will not see in supermarkets or retail outlets. They are not necessarily wines that regular guests will be familiar with on our very extensive wine list - we are aiming to push the boundaries a little here.
Number one is on Wednesday 23rd September 2026, and we are joined by expert vintner Tim Fletcher and we will be covering sparkling, white and red wines of the Loire valley with Tim and Sommeler (and chef!) Adrian. Arrival from 7.15pm, tasting will start at around 7.30pm. It's not a problem to arrive later. Places are limited (and some are already taken) so please contact Silke in the usual way (see book page) if you fancy it.
Each event includes rustic food - of the same quality as our fine dining offerings, but with simpler presentation. You'll go home satisfied! It gives an insight into the dining and wine experience at The Silk House.
The wine tastings cover regional diversity and wine styles, generally from well renowned growers and estates, and include guidance on how to differentiate wines. Suitable for experienced tasters and beginners alike. Hosted by wine experts along with our chef / lifelong classed growth Bordeaux collector / sommelier Adrian.
Wines will be available to purchase at especially attractive prices on the night. Plus priority booking for the next wine tasting & rustic dinner event. We plan to do at least six each year and these will cover the Mosel, Burgundy, Bordeaux, English fine wines (including the esteemed Sugrue), Rioja, top end Australia, dessert wines from entry level to d'Yquem, Lebanon (think Musar), Southern France, and some of the best wines of Italy, as well as regional champagne growers vs the very best English sparking.
